This is another attraction that is not to be missed. If you've ever wondered why you haven't seen much great art by Russian artists, it's because it's all here. This is a big place. The collection was amassed by a 19th century philanthropist and is contained in 60 galleries. Some of the items, such as Vasily Perov's portrait of Doestoevsky, are well-known in the West. But most of the collection has traveled little and is undeservedly obscure.
